MORE CHANCE OF WINNING AT THE WORTHINGTON’S 2016 CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS

Molson Coors extends prize fund to £18,500 with £1,000 Worthington’s Plate Competition

Two hundred and fifty six darts players from around the country will converge on Cardiff at the end of August to compete for a total prize fund of £18,500.00. The winner will receive £5,000.00 and the coveted Worthington’s 2016 Champion of Champions title.

Now, to add a little more spice, Red Dragon Darts, has announced the addition of a £1,000 Worthington’s Plate Competition for those knocked out in the first round, taking the total prize fund of the Molson Coors sponsored event to £18,500.

The Worthington’s 2016 Champion of Champions event invites players to compete in a series of heats at pubs and clubs up and down the country with winners automatically qualifying for the finals to be held at St. David’s Hall, Cardiff on Sunday, 28th August. The competition is free to enter for men, women and juniors over the age of 14 years (at the landlord’s discretion) and is based on a best of three legs 501 format which mirrors that of the iconic News of the World competition.

"The Worthington’s Champion of Champions competition is truly the peoples’ darts event,” says Simon Hall, head of marketing at Red Dragon Darts. "It attracts thousands of players of all abilities. Last year’s winner was Gerwyn ‘The Ice Man’ Price.

"This year sees the introduction the £1,000 Worthington’s Plate thanks to the generosity of sponsors, Molson Coors. It means that every one of the 256 finalists will effectively compete in two events. If they win their first round match they will progress towards the Worthington’s 2016 Champion of Champions title. If they lose they will get to compete for the Worthington’s Plate.”

The winner of the plate competition will receive £500 with £250 going to the runner up and £125 to third and fourth. Other prizes, including Blade 4 dartboard and Red Dragon vouchers will be presented to those make the last 16.
