Riley’s Sports Bar Solihull staged the latest of their Last Sunday in the Month Knockouts and adding yet another title to his ever increasing list was Neil Parsonage who went one step further than he did in last month’s competition where he lost in the final to Mike McFall.
Parsonage was in top form throughout hitting a maximum and beating Terry Webster 5-2 in the semi’s while from the other half of the draw Tom White accounted for Pete Shipley with a 5-0 scoreline. Both players hit a maximum in the final but it was Parsonage who got the 6-4 verdict and the winner’s top prize of £110 White collecting £70 as runner up.
Both Shipley and Webster each received £20 as losing semi finalists.
In the Plate competition last month’s winner Jake Webster made it to the final yet again but on this occasion he came up against an in form Luis Barberan who with a 180 and 120 checkout took the winners £25 with a 4-0 result, Webster receiving £15.

Week two in the Sheldon and District Summer League and in division one Iron Horse Flights galloped to the top of the table with an 8-0 win over bottom team East Birmingham Allotment Holders Association. Langley Hall Sports and Social Arrows are on the same three points as Iron Horse after their 5-3 win at Castle Vale Residents. Third placed Marston Green Tavern had a bye this week they are the only team in the division with a 100% win record, they are one point behind the leading pair with a game in hand.
A 6-2 win at Holy Souls has kept The Harvester in pole position in division two with a maximum of four points while in the third division Crown Arrows lead the way with four points from their opening two games the latest of which was a 7-1 home win over Highwood Arrows.
Only average separates the top two teams in division four Meadway Sports and Social’s 7-1 win at Greville Arms just giving them the edge on average over Highwood Exiles who were 6-2 winners away to Langley Hall Sports and Social Flights.

Despite losing 2-1 to third placed Adam Plows Dave Howlett continues to lead the Premiership Division in the Sheldon Marlborough Cricket Club Singles League as he quickly recovered to beat Paul Sunner 2-0 to give him 18 points one more than second placed Dave Humphries whose 2-0 win over Barry Steptoe leaves him two points off the top with a game in hand.
In the Championship Division Pete Jones has moved up one place to pole position after his 2-0 win against Jay Vaughan, also on the same 16 points as Jones are Martin Cox and Neal Rughani but they have both played one game more than Jones.
Alan Wale added two more 2-0 wins to his tally in Division One beating Dave Brown and John Young to put him on 16 points from 11 games, Steve McCarthy and Pete Ayling also have 16 points but in turn have played 12 and 13 games.
In the overall table Dave Howlett remains at the top with 18 points but is closely followed by no fewer than seven players all on 16 points.

With the Euro football still taking its toll in the South Birmingham League only a handful of teams have played the scheduled two games so far, in group one just one game was played which saw The C’s beat The Bell 6-2 to put the winners second in the table on the same two points as leaders Coleshill Social who have played just one game.
In group two Erdington Members Club lost their 100% win record when they were held to a 4-4 draw by The Raven, nevertheless Erdington remain in the top spot with three points one to the good on second placed Crown at Shard End who were 7-1 winners away to The Kingfisher.
Just one result from group three which saw Mackadown Social beat Banbury Arrows 7-1 to go to top and Banbury go bottom.

Journeys End continue to dominate the Forest of Arden Summer League, in division one a 7-1 win over second placed Highwood KB has seen Journeys End go three points clear at the top of the table while in division two Journeys End Flights made it six wins in as many games when they beat second in the table Riley’s Resurrected 6-2 to open a four points gap over their opponents, however Riley’s have played one game fewer than Journeys.

For most of the players in the Winmau Centre Thursday Night Champions League it was a catch week in which they caught up with some of their outstanding rearranged fixtures. Leader Kevin Harris had no game and holds on to pole position with 90 points from 17 games while second placed Louis Burley had a vital encounter with reigning champion Mick Baker which he won 5-2 to put him on 85 points from 15 games. After his defeat Baker then played three more games in which he beat Mick O’Neill and Craig Capewell 7-0 and Martin East 5-2 to give him a total of 80 points and like Burley from 15 games.
Although the league has not reached the halfway stage at present the title already looks as though it could well go to one of the current top three players.

The Camp Hill League were involved with cup finals this week, first the Ladies Singles in which Gloria Lightwood (Devil’s Club) lifted the crown with a final success against Danielle Whitmore (Wagon and Horses). Another Devil’s Club player Alan Cheshire won the Secretaries Knockout beating league secretary Mark Standley in the final.
The Captains Knockout tile went to Holy Gulp representative Bill Carter whose final opposition came in the shape of Matt Cooper from Cotterills Lane Club.

Mitre third in the Small Heath League table lost ground this week as they were beaten 7-2 playing away to second placed Gulp Tribe leaving them two points behind their victors and eight behind leaders East Birmingham Allotment Holders Association who won their tie at Wagon and Horses by the same 7-2 margin to make it an unbeaten twelve consecutive wins.
There was a rare win for next to bottom of the table Moseley All Service as they won their home fixture with Cob’s Bar 5-4, this being Moseley’s second win in twelve games which puts them four points ahead of bottom team Emerald Flights and four behind Cob’s Bar who are just above them in the table.

Court Oak took their undefeated run in division one of the Kings Norton League to seven games when they won 4-3 away to Toby Jug ‘A’ and at the same time extended their lead to six points over second placed West Heath who lost for the second week running following up their 6-1 defeat to Court Oak with a 4-3 loss at home to Stirchley United.
Grant Arms have moved up one place in division two taking over the number one position from Rubery RBL after beating them 5-2, this being Rubery’s first defeat in six games and although level on ten points with Grant they have played one game more.

Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club suffered their first defeat of their new campaign in the Netherton Thursday Night League, a somewhat surprising result as they lost 5-2 away to fourth placed White Swan. The defeat has seen Ex Serviceman’s removed from the top spot and drop to third two points behind the top two teams Dudley Sports and Social and Bulls Head who in turn won 6-1 against The Crown and 5-2 at Fairfield.
At the other end of the table it was a good week for Delph Bell ‘A’ who for the first time in four games recorded a win a 4-3 result when they played away against bottom of the table The Widders.

Old Oscott Arrows dropped one place and fell two points behind Boldmere St Mike’s and The Beehive in division one of the Sutton and District League when they lost 5-2 away to Plough and Arrows. Boldmer St Mike’s and The Beehive both won 7-2 against respective opponents Bishop Vesey and Red Lion, Boldmere staying just ahead of Beehive on average at the top of the division.
Second division leaders The Boot were another side to win 7-2 in their home tie with next to bottom of the table Rosey Macs and are just ahead on average of Golden Hind who were 6-3 winners at St Thomas’s Club.
Erdington Club in third place also won 7-2 in their game at Boldmere Tap and are just two points adrift of the top two teams.

Congratulations to Crown ‘A’ who with three weeks to spare have won the West Midlands Men’s Super League title.
