Lakeside World Professional Darts Day 4 Evening Session Highlights
Game 1: Martin Phillips 3-1 Daniel Day
Former Wales Captain and International Darts Icon Martin Phillips showed his class to see off Daniel Day in the opening match-up. Phillips put in a signature consistent performance throughout the match to defeat Day who was in a buoyant mood following his convincing Preliminary Round win.
Phillips now faces German breakthrough Michael Unterbuchner in the Last 16.
Game 2: Anastasia Dobromyslova 2-0 Anca Zijlstra
Anastasia Dobromsylova a strong statement in her opening match as she defeated Anca Zijlstra. The Russian thrower sealed six straight legs against Zijlstra with a healthy 40% checkout rate on the doubles.
“I have been practising hard” stated Dobromyslova
“I’m well prepared and ready for the next match.”
Anastasia now faces the winner of Lorraine Winstanley and Tricia Wright's contest on Wednesday afternoon.
Game 3: Cameron Menzies 1-3 Conan Whitehead
Cameron Menzies was the next seeded player to fall as Conan Whitehead took what was a blow-for-blow encounter between the pair. Both showed great quality but it was Whitehead that edged the contest hitting a deciding leg 180-140-56 to seal the match. Jim Williams now awaits Whitehead in what is sure to be another electric clash on the Lakeside stage.
"I know how dangerous Cammy can be" mused Whitehead after the match.
"I wanted to get on top of him early and just get it done with"
Game 4: Jamie Hughes 2-3 Michael Unterbuchner
The final match of the evening saw Tiptons 'Yozza' take on Michael Unterbuchner and the game went right down to the wire. Hughes got off to a rocket of a start as he claimed the opening set with 136 and 120 finishes. After the break Hughes fell off the pace and Unterbuchner stepped up his game to claim a deciding set victory.
