Lakeside World Professional Darts Day 3 Afternoon Session Highlights
Game 1: David Cameron 2-3 Michael Unterbuchner
Michael Unterbuchner won the first of the 2 preliminary games in the afternoon's session in what was a tight affair against Canada's David Cameron. An 11-dart leg in the 3rd set was the highlight for the German who will no doubt be happy to see his name in the 1st round. Michael will now play Jamie Hughes to round off Tuesday's evening session.
Michael reflected on his match saying: "Doubles were a trouble for me today, hopefully they'll improve against Jamie"
Game 2: Craig Caldwell 0-3 Daniel Day
England's Daniel Day cruised through his pre-lim with an impressive display. The Lakeside debutant was too much for Craig Caldwell to handle as he smashed his way into the 1st round proper with a 93 average.
When quizzed if he could play better, Daniel responded "Hopefully! I want to keep going from here, it was a great performance and i'm delighted to have settled in so well
"But, i want to keep going"
Day now comes up against Martin Phillips tomorrow evening.
Game 3: Richie Edwards 0-3 Danny Noppert
Last year's runner-up continued his impressive start with a comfortable 3-0 win over Richie Edwards. Noppert was in full flow as he out scored Edwards, topping the performance off with a 121 checkout to seal the 2nd leg. Next up for Noppie is No.2 seed Mark McGeeney.
Noppert was keen to look ahead to the next round: "I looking forward to the next match against Mark McGeeney. He's a good player and I know it will be a tough game
"I need to be much better than I've played in the last two games"
