Lakeside World Professional Darts Day 2 Evening Session Highlights
Game 1: Jeffrey Sparidaans 0 - 3 Dennis Nilsson
Dennis Nilsson kicked off his Lakeside campaign with a confident white wash of Jeffrey Sparidaans in their preliminary match-up. The Swedish strongman rocked the stage with a massive 140 finish to take the 1st leg and never looked back. His performance means he now faces Jim Williams in the 1st round on Tuesday.
Dennis is in a confident mood going into his match with Williams: "I played Jim before in the Swedish Open and turned it around from 0-4 down to win 5-4, so he know who I am and what i can do"
Game 2: Sharon Prins 2 - 0 Maria O'Brien
Sharon Prins comfortably set-up a next round match up with No.1 seed Deta Hedman after she defeated Maria O'Brien. Prins was lethal on her doubles and after taking the 1st set 3-1, she saw out the 2nd set fight back from O'Brien.
"My whole tour this year has been good" explained Prins "But it's different when you get to Lakeside and I shall have to see how the next round goes!"
Game 3: Chris Landman 0 - 3 Derk Telnekes
The 2nd Prelim game of the evening was a strong showing from Derk Telnekes as he came out on top in this all-Dutch affair. Landman pushed Telnekes all the way as every set went to a deciding leg but it was the former that kept his cool at crunch time. Geert de Vos now awaits the winner in the 1st round proper.
Game 4: Wesley Harms 1 - 3 Wayne Warren
Wayne Warren narrowly missed hitting the perfect leg as the Welshman threw 7 perfect darts in the 1st set but narrowly missed T15. Despite multiple bounce-outs Warren's scoring was just too much for Harms who did well to hang on throughout the match.
Warren was a mix of emotions after the match: "I put pressure on myself, all my mates back home we're telling me 'You've got to break the duck!'
"I've just beaten the number seven seed and I've got Willem Mandigers next, who is a brilliant player, but I'll give him a good game too"
Warren now faces Willem Mandigers in the next round, who was also on fire with his scoring in his opening victory.
