Darts News - Chris Quantock wins York Open Darts
York's Chris Quantock carried his current PDC Tour form into the 7th Streamline Taxis York Open Darts Championships Ranking Event 4 held at Huntington WMC in York by defeating event 2 winner Mark "Nitro" Lawrence 5-4 in the final.
The event organised in Association with Red Dragon Darts and York Print saw Quantock, who has qualified for the televised stages of the Coral UK Open Finals in March, defeat Lawrence (12-20-15-15) with legs of 21-17-19-15 and 16 darts with both players hitting a maximum.
Chris went out in 18-15-11 and 17 darts to beat Justin Hobson (20-19-16) 4-3 in a tight semi-final match both adding 180's whilst Lawrence (20-14-17 and 15) won his semi 4-2 over Event 1 winner Darren Johnson (13-17).
In the Quarter Finals Quantock hit 2 x 180's and a 177 score in legs of 15-17 and 17 to defeat Simon Cass 3-1 the same margin by which Johnson (18 and 2 x 180's) defeated Trevor Day. Lawrence (18-12 and 18) battled his way to a 3-2 win over Stuart Limbert (15-17 and a 180) with Hobson whitewashing Richie Corner to complete the quartet of matches.
As usual there was an abundance of legs under 21 darts and 180's scored with Quantock leading the way in both. There were a total of 32 x 180's recorded during the course of the day with Quantock hitting nine with Stuart Limbert and Jaron Esteve scoring four a piece. Jo Hodges also adding one for the ladies.
Hodges won the furthest lady prize whilst Adam Pearce collected the furthest youth prize after a 9 dart throw off.
Lance Milburn and Mike Atkinson won the Blind Pairs beating Neil Ward and Andy Brayshaw in the final with Richie Corner/Jo Hodges and Mark Lea/Stuart Limbert the beaten semi-finalists.

The Streamline Taxis York Open Darts Championship Ranking Event 5 takes place on Saturday 11th March 2017 at Huntington WMC in York. Entries taken on the day and players must register by 12.30pm for a 1pm start.
