Sparky short-circuits Robbie Greens’ Tournament

Dutch newcomer Wesley Harms puts in a second impressive performance in a row to knock Robbie ‘Kong’ Green out of the 2012 BDO Championship.

Harms following up from his win over Welshman Martin Phillips, produced an inspired performance to progress into the last 8 where he will face Paul Jennings.

Robbie Green put in a solid start to the match as he stole the second leg of the opening set against the throw. In the next leg, ‘Kong’, finished with double tops with his second darts to take the set and a 1-0 lead.

Sparky then started the second set strongly, exciting on 60 and then took the second leg against the throw with a double eight finish. The Dutchman then calmly hit another double eight to take the set and level the match.

Harms again started a set strongly, notching up an impressive 180 – 140 – 145, but missed double 18 for an 11 darter. Sparky finally took the opening leg against the throw with his fifth double. The Dutchman continued his form by taking the next with a 12 darter, after narrowly missing a double 16 for a big 132 finish.

The Dutchman started the fourth set strongly again and hit a 11-darter, including a fourth 180. Kong missed double 16 in the third leg which the Dutchman pounced upon to finish the set as 3-2 winner.

The fifth leg went the way of the Dutchman again and he finished with a Double one to clinch the match and impressively progress through to the final 8.
