A Look Back In Time - 04.05.2005

Neither of the local county teams, Warwickshire and West Midlands were able to finish their seasons on a high, as the former went down 20-16 at Cheshire and the latter 19-17 at Northamptonshire.

Saturday’s games were Warwickshire’s downfall as Vicki Byrne (15.18) was the only winner for the ladies and the men ended on the wrong side of a 7-5 scoreline with Lee Harris (27.38) their top man. Sunday was a little better as the ladies won 4-2, the lady of the match award going almost without saying to Trina Gulliver (28.36). The men’s game finished all square at six each, a 31.98 average giving Scott Mitton the match trophy.

West Midlands had a lively start as the ladies won 5-1(Julie Aston 18.83 the award winner). The following two encounters both went to Northamptonshire, the men’s ’B’ 7-5 and the ladies ’A’ 5-1, Peter Wyse (25.97) and Chris Banks (17.48) the respective award winners. The final men’s A’ game was a 6-6 draw, Ian Hartland claiming the last man of the match award for the season with a 28.90 average.
