It was not a happy end to 2004 for Warwickshire as they lost their unbeaten run in the premier division of the Kaliber BDO Inter Counties Championships. Playing at home against Hampshire the ladies ‘B’ went down 4-2 with Vicki Byrne (17.10) their top player. The men’s ‘B’ after leading 4-2 had to content themselves with a 6-76 draw, Dave Buckley (27.59) taking the match award.

Sunday’s games did not get much better as the ladies finished all square at six each and the men finished on the wrong side of an 8-4 result giving the away team a 21-15 victory. Taking the match awards for the ‘A’ teams were Tony Brown (30.67) and Trina Gulliver (27.83).

After seven fixtures have been completed in division one of the Four Oaks and District League no fewer than three teams are locked together at the top of the table on ten points with only average separating them. With a 7-2 win at Hill Social Midland Red are in pole position. Old Oscott Arrows missed their chance to go twp points clear at the top when they played third placed Old Oscott WMC and lost 5-4, Arrows, with the better average hold on to second spot, with the WMC still third. D.Sargent (Yenton Exiles) recorded a 160 break plus an eight darts leg as his side won 7-2 against Sportsmans Rest.

In the second division B.Hughes (Bromford Lions) hit a maximum, however, it was not enough for his team to avoid a 6- 3 defeat at Good Hope Flights. Good Hope are top of the table on ten points, similarly Barn Social have the same number of points but do have the advantage of a game in hand.

A top of the table clash in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League brought together leaders Saltley Gardeners and third placed Highwood. The result was a close 5-4 to the home side, Highwood. Currently there are three teams level at the top of the table on ten points, Saltley Gardeners, Fordbridge Social and Highwood, all three of them have played eight games.

The two top teams in division one, Banbury Club and Shard End RBL, had respective 6-3 wins over Lea Hall Sports and Social and Vaughans. R.Lucas hit a 180 for bottom of the table Harvester, who lost 6-3 at home to RAFA.

Top played bottom in the second division, leaders Old Bill and Bull hosted Sheldon and Marlboro and had a surprisingly close 5-4 verdict. G.Walker (Yardley Ex Colts) recorded a 160 break in a team win of 6-3 in a local derby against Yardley Ex Flights.

In division one of the Harborne and District Winter League the George stretched their unbeaten run to six games when they beat Smethwick Labour Club7-3 to give them a clear two points lead at the top of the table. Two other teams vying for the title are the Raven and Midland Red, who are both on ten points. The match finished all square at 5-5, D.Bourne hitting a 180 for the Reds.

Red Arrows and Mackadown Sports and Social did their championship aspirations no harm at all this week as in turn they defeated Farringdon Social 6-3 and Harvester 5-4. Terry Price was in super form for Harvester as he chalked up a 160 break and a 133 finish. There were mixed fortunes for the two Greville teams as Greville Arrows won 7-2 against Sheldon Ivy Leaf and Greville Arms went down 6-3 to Sheldon Heath Social Flights.
