After the opening five fixtures in the Harborne and District Summer League Smethwick Labour Club lead the field on a perfect ten points, their latest success being a massive 9-1 trouncing of the Raven, who are still to gain their first points of the campaign. Midland Red are in second spot just two points adrift of the leaders, but with a game in hand.
In division two newcomers Colwyn are setting the pace, with four wins in as many games. Greenlands and WC WMC are two points behind Colwyn, Greenlands having played one fixture more than the other two teams.
There were 180’s for E.Simpson (George)D.Arnold (Quinborne Flights) and K.Little (Avenue Members Club).

Robbie Earl, champion of the Brookmeadow Individual League was unable to make it a double as he lost out in the final of the league’s singles knockout to league runner up Mark Showering. Showering won the very close 3-2 final with top shots of 129,2x121,6x100 as opposed to Earl’s 180,2x140 and 4x100. It was then Showering’s turn to miss out on a double as he and his partner Paul Hogan lost 3-1 to John Whitehouse and Alan Smith in the final of the doubles.
The new season got underway and the reigning champion Robbie Earl began where he left off chalking up two 2-1 wins over Peter Stevens and Mark Elkin. Top shots of 180 were recorded by John Whitehouse, Peter Stevens (2) and Mark Birch.

Congratulations to Birmingham Central who with 29 points have won the Warwickshire Ladies Super League. Some six points behind came runners up Coventry Bishopsgate, with Leamington Sureway third on 18 points.

It was a week of upsets in the Small Heath League as leaders Mitre lost out for the first time in fifteen games. Playing away to middle of the table Bromford Social Club, Mitre finished on the wrong side of a close 5-4 result. However, Mitre retain their two points advantage as their nearest rivals Custard House also lost 5-4 in their home tie with Gunmakers Arms. Gunmakers maintain their number one spot at the top of the shadow league two points ahead of McVeighs.

The first two rounds of the division two cup were on the agenda for the Tamworth Cue Sports League. Winners of round one were Three Horse Shoes, Boot (Grendon), Royal Oak and Pretty Pigs at the expense of in turn Mercian, Cue Sports Club, Hopwas Club and Kettlebrook Club, in the last four Three Horse Shoes and Royal Oak had victories over respective opponents Pretty Pigs and Boot.

Tigers stretched their unbeaten run in the G.U.L.P. Charity League to eight games when they beat Malt Shovel 6-1. At the other end of the table Red Devils got their season off the mark, when they recorded their first win a 5-2 success over the Red Lion.
