The Brookmeadow Individual League produced a top of the table clash this week when leader Robert Earl took on his nearest rival Gordon Clinton. Earl turned on some top form hitting ten three figure scores to beat Clinton 3-0 and open up a fifteen points gap between the two players. Clinton however, was quick to put the defeat behind him and return to winning ways with a 3-0 success against Peter Stevens, plus he still has a game in hand on Earl.

Stirchley United WMC were on form this week in division one of the South West Birmingham Clubs Summer League as with a 5-2 scoreline they accounted for Greenland Arrows and their player M.Bathurst was in equally good form recording 160 and 100 breaks. In division two it was the battle of the Tascos clubs, with Tascos Social beating Tascos Brunswick 4-3. Despite his side losing, Robert Snipe chalked up a 180.

It was a good time for the Bournbrook’s in division three as Bournbrook Flights won their home game against Allens Cross Arrows 6-1and Bournbrook Arrows returned from Shenley Lane with a 5-2 victory. M.Reynolds had a 160 break for Shenley Lane.

For the second time in only three fixtures John McCaffrey (Innisfree) has recorded a tremendous maximum break of 170 in the Small Heath Summer League. However, despite John’s fabulous performance his team lost 5-4 to the Station Hotel. In the week four games leaders Custard House lost their first of the campaign, a 6-3 reversal in their away game against Station Hotel. Three teams are now sharing top place on six points, Custard House, Victoria 301 Club and Station Hotel. At the other end of the table Gunmakers Arms chalked up their first win of the season a 5-4 win against Victoria Flights. Gunmakers now move off the bottom spot and Victoria Flights take over.

The league have also been engaged in their League Charity Singles Competition. Taking the title was Mark Kane from the Station Hotel. Mark beat Martin Cooper (Ward End Ex Service Club) in the final. Losing semi finalists were Paul Wilding (Victoria Flights) and J.West (Station Hotel).

In group one of the Sheldon and District Summer League leaders Three Horse Shoes dropped their first points of the season when they could only draw 4-4 at second in the table Saltely Amateur Gardeners. There was a similar occurrence in group two with top team Mackadown Social finishing all square with their nearest rivals Malt Shovel. Shard End RBL ‘A’ hold pole position in group three, they beat Sheldon Social 5-3, while Banbury Club had an emphatic 7-1 win over Vaughans to maintain their number one spot in group four.

On the ball with maximums this week were R.Taylor (RAFA), T.Randell (Saltley Amateur Gardeners), D.Marshall (Iron Horse), C.Okey (Hen and Chickens), P.Taylor (Malt Shovel), D.Mortiboys (Raven), N.Parsonage (Banbury Club), A.Moss (Old Bill and Bull).

After a 5-3 win at the Queens, the Globe remain the only undefeated team in division one of the Tamworth Cue Sports League. Just one point separates them from their nearest challengers the Dolphin, who dropped their first point of the campaign when they finished all square at 4-4 with Red Lion ‘B’.

In division two Red Lion ‘A’ lost their first game of the season, going down 5-3 at home against the Boot (Warton). Red Lion stay in top place on four points one more than Cue Sports and Boot (Grendon), who each have a game in hand.
