With only four fixtures to play Kingstanding Ex Servicemen’s have thrown the title race wide open in the Four Oaks and District League following their surprising 6-3 home victory over leaders Midland Red. The Red’s remain in pole position, but have now been joined by Anvil Nomads on 28 points and are just two legs of average to the good on their rivals. Anvil Nomads had a 6-3 home win over Hill Social.

Third placed Good Hope Flights faltered and lost ground on the leading duo as they went down 6-3 at home to Old Oscott WMC, they are two points behind the top two teams. G.Cornbill hit a maximum for the working men’s club.

As the season fast draws to an end in the Harborne and District 301 Winter League, Bartley Green F.C. caused a major upset in division one as they beat Midland Red 5-4. Midland Red now have to win their game in hand by 8-1 to pip the George to the title.

In division two the Cock Inn beat W.C.WMC 5-4 to hold on to the number one spot. However, the championship will not be decided before the result of the game between Raven and Old Mill has been played.

The Sheldon and District Winter League have been engaged in the first round of their Denis Houlders Trophy. Winning through to the next round are, Fordbridge Social ’B’, Brook Meadow Flights, Farringdon Social ’A’, Saltley Amateur Gardeners ’A’, Iron Horse ‘A‘, Malt Shovel ’A’, Yardley Colts ’B’, Stechford Social, Mackadown Social ’B’, Lea All Stars, Small Heath Amateur Gardeners ’A’, Raven ’A’ and Yardley X ’A’.

Hitting 180’s were P.Stevens (Fordbridge Social ‘B’) and D.Timmins (Lea Hall All Stars).

The Tamworth Cue Sports League have had various finals on their agenda. Winning the division one singles competition was Dolphin’s P.Whittaker, who had a final success against team mate M.Martin. Queens Head ’A’ won the first division Challenge Cup, while Three Horse Shoes took the division two title. In the divisional cup’s Dolphin were the first division winners and Hopwas Club the second.

The Forest of Arden Summer League will be holding their AGM at the Sheldon Heath Social Club on Wednesday 3rd May with a view to forming their new season. Anyone interested in entering a team in the league for the forthcoming season should attend this meeting which will begin at 8-00pm.

The G.U.L.P. Charity League hold their AGM at the Victoria Club, St Johns Road, Sparkhill tonight at 8.30pm. Anyone wishing to enter a team in the league for the new season, which will get underway on the 5th April, should be represented at this meeting.

Meanwhile in the current campaign the Captains and Delegates and the Mixed Doubles Knockouts have been played off. In the final of the Captains and Delegates competition, which contained no fewer than ten three figure scores, Tigers representative Matt Cooper took the honours with a 2-1 verdict over A.Daly from the Barmy Army.

Maximums were hit by J.McCaffery (2), Terry Webster and Matt Cooper, while Terry Constable and Colin Wyatt both recorded thirteen each.

The Mixed Doubles title also went to the Tigers, when R.Macken and E.Harris defeated another Tigers duo, C.Wyatt and A.Cooper.

On the 18th April the league will be taking on a representative team from the Small Heath League in a charity match to be staged at the Custard House. A return match is planned on the 30th April, at a venue yet to be decided.
