The league cup was on the fixture card for the Harborne and District 401 Summer League produced some big wins, none bigger than Smethwick Labour Club’s 8-1 success over Quinton Members Club, V.Gould chalking up scores of 140,105,100 and a 120 break for the victors.
Quinborne were not far behind Smethwick Labour as they recorded a 7-2 win in their away game against the Cock Inn. M.Henderson’s was the highlight for the hosts as he hit a maximum but it turned out to be poor consolation for the home side as they departed from the competition.
In the other games played George and Hillyfields were 6-3 winners against respective opponents Bartley Green F.C. and Quinton Members Club Flights.

White Lion continue their quest for honours in division one of the Pip Club League, a 5-3 away win over bottom of the table Royal Oak (Kingsbury) giving them a total of 13 points from eight games. Red Lion ‘A’ have forfeited second place after their top of the table clash with their nearest rivals Dolphin. Playing at home Dolphin recorded a vital 5-3 win to lift them into second place just one point adrift of White Lion. Red Lion ‘A’ have dropped to third place a further one point behind.
In division two leaders Hopwas Club enforced their bid for honours by handing out an 8-0 whitewash to Boot Inn (Grendon), which maintains their two points advantage over Mercian Club, who had a 5-3 success over red Lion ’B’. Glascote Club and Kettlebrook Club remain firmly rooted at the other end of the table, Glascote losing 7-1 at Tamworth Sports Bar and Kettlebrook on the receiving end of an 8-0 drubbing by Red Lion (Polesworth).
Tomorrow evening the league will be division one Challenge Cup, the draw for which is, Two Gates Club v Queens Head, Red Lion ‘A’ v Globe Inn, Royal Oak (Kingsbury) v Three Horse Shoes, Dolphin v White Lion. The Dolphin versus White Lion fixture should prove to be quite an encounter as they are currently second and first respectively in the league table.

As the second half of the season gets underway in the G.U.L.P. Charity League the Tigers remain top with a 6-1 victory away to the Red Devils, while Bromford’s win at home to the Tribe keeps them in second place.
Barmy Army keep up the pressure on the top two teams by handing out a 7-0 thrashing to the Lions in their home tie. A 5-2 win by the Who’s saw the Beasts go down for the second time in a row and leaves doubts as to whether their title aspirations will bear fruit this season.
